About Sportstop, Inc. The Sportstop, Inc. was founded in 1978 by Jay Rogers. The history of sporting goods in the Rogers family dates back to 1939 when Jay’s father, Lee O. Rogers, purchased Spaulding Sporting Goods in downtown Little Rock. For nearly 50 years, Spaulding was one of the finest sporting goods stores in the State. Upon graduating from the University of Arkansas where he was a student trainer for the football team, Jay worked for Spaulding for about 10 years. He then decided to open his own sporting goods business in west Little Rock, The Sportstop, Inc. In 1980, Lee sold his interest in Spaulding and joined the Sportstop operation. The company now has three road salesmen and seven other full-time employees and is the leading athletic supplier in the state. Recently, Jay’s son, James Rogers, joined Sportstop as vice president of operations, becoming the third generation of his family to be involved in sporting goods. The Sportstop, Inc. Team
